The Christian Science Monitor highlights The Extraordinaries

2009 Echoing Green Fellow Jacob Colker has been causing quite a buzz among the smart phone community.

The Extraordinaries’ application, which went live in March, encourages volunteers to engage in simple but important tasks that can make a real difference in important communities. Among the many micro volunteering opportunities, volunteers can now tag photos for nine museums, or help take photos of neighborhood play areas to assist KaBOOM, a not-for-profit whose mission is to create a nationwide map of playgrounds in America. Over 1,700 people have downloaded the iPhone app since its launch in March and companies like KaBOOM have already seen relatively small successes.  Jacob and his partner Ben Rigby are confident that the app has huge potential for the future of other nonprofits.

Want to find out where you can download the app for your mobile phone? Check out the full details in The Christian Science Monitor.
