Buffalo fellows featured in ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

This Sunday at 8PM EST, be sure to tune in to ABC for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  This week is a special two-hour edition that features a home renovation in Buffalo, NY.   The lucky recipient of the makeover is Delores Powell and her four children.

Delores is a Buffalo resident and board member of PUSH (People United for Sustainable Housing), the organization founded by 2005 Echoing Green Fellow Aaron Bartley.  Her home was selected for an makeover with a strong emphasis on sustainability and community organizing.  Her original home was deconstructed by Buffalo ReUse (founded by 2007 Echoing Green Fellow Michael Gainer) and the building materials were diverted from the landfill.  The makeover crew and more than 5,000 community volunteers then proceed to deliver a “green design” luxury home that’s the first to achieve Emerald status in New York state.

If you miss the national broadcast on Sunday, you should be able to find the online archive episode at Hulu.com.

I love watching this show on

I love watching this show on ABC.  It is one of my favorites.  I love how the whole community comes together to help a family in need.  They get a new home, new kitchens and they even throw in an LCD HDTV too.   Great show, hopefully they'll make a lot more!

Thanks!

Larry
