NPR's All Things Considered Features Elizabeth Hausler
NPR’s program All Things Considered recently featured a story on 2004 Echoing Green Fellow and Founder of Build Change, Elizabeth Hausler. In “Building Safer Homes Before the Next China Quake,” NPR documents Elizabeth’s work in China, where she is helping citizens devastated by the recent earthquake to rebuild their houses stronger and safer than before. She first traveled to Sichuan a month after the earthquake to study the buildings that collapsed; after surveying the damage, she returned to make sure that villages were reinforcing their houses with concrete and steel. Speaking about her work, Elizabeth says she considers it “the best job in the world…part of what we're doing is reassuring homeowners, so that they can sleep at night knowing their house is safe.” Read or listen to the article and let us know what you think in the comments section.
