GI-Net Efforts Pay Off In Sarah Palin's Divestment From Sudan

Genocide Intervention Network (GI-Net) celebrated an important victory last week as Governor Palin divested $15,000 of her money from companies complicit in the Darfur genocide. Palin’s investments in "high-offender" companies were first reported by ABC News, which learned of them by drawing on the Sudan Company Report, produced annually by GI-Net.

Dateline Spotlight on Serbian Mental Institutions

Dateline NBC recently ran an investigative piece on Serbia’s mental institutions. The shocking segment draws heavily on a previous report done by Mental Disability Rights International (MDRI)—founded by 1993 Echoing Green Fellow Eric Rosenthal—and features current MDRI COO Laurie Ahern. We’ve embedded the Dateline piece below. The images contained therein are unsettling and unforgettable.

Working at the Intersection of Environmental and Human Rights

In this clip, 1993 Echoing Green Fellow Charlie Lord talks about his Moment of Obligation and the experiences that drove him to seek social change. While in law school, Charlie realized the connections between environmentally unfriendly practices, and social injustices in low-income neighborhoods. He became inspired to transform environmental standards with the aim of creating safe cities and communities.
